Korea On Fleek 2023 - Seoul Friday

Not raining so we went to Insadong to get dojang name stamps from the same place I got mine last time. Here's the Cheonggyecheon stream area not flooded and looking nice

8 day procession of King Jeongjo. It's 1800 people!
Same japchae hotdduk lady was on the corner yelling at her husband. Still good

Myung Sin Dang Brush Store is also where Queen Elizabeth II, Obama, The Dutch King, The Queen of Spain, Pope Francis all go name seals made. And now you can add Robert Raish to that list.

The area around Bukchon hanok village is pretty nice. But it was very hot and humid that day. Classic Seoul.

the tourists renting and wearing hanboks must have been dying that day

the Bukchon hanok village walk

we went to meet JP and his wife and Daughter at Hwangsaengga Kalguksoo

Wang (king) mandu dumplings, Kong gook soo ice cold noodles.

we went to pick up our dojang and she asked if we wanted the season and year carved into the handle and she did it on the spot so quickly.
JP told her that I got another name stamp done there 5 years earlier and she lets go outside and take a photo together. This ajuma is so nice. Step #1 in Bob's heavy and sentimental Korea journey, claiming and facing his name.

This time I got mine in hangul, the Korean alphabet at opposed to Hanja, chinese characters that used to be used in olden times. I also recently saw adoption papers from my mom that said the meaning of my chinese characters and I chose wrong last time.
Park Nam Ho박남호 was my name and I chose South (Nam) and Tiger (Ho) but I'm actually Man (Nam) Bright (Ho). Bob's name was Lee Joo Jin이주진. Joo (Pillar) Jin (True)

We went to Ikseondong and its a little traditional hanok village turned into bars and stores and was so cool 5 yrs ago in the dead of winter and there weren't a lot of people and it felt like knowing about the next cool new neighborhood before anyone else but now its overrun with people, I don't think its tourists really its a lot of Koreans and so we were all turned off. Jen and I bought sunglasses at Radio Eyes and its awesome that all the glasses in Korea actually fit my severely asian nose bridge.
after making the loop and everywhere was full we landed on Craft Roo, the craft beer place Kyungwon took us to 5 yrs ago. We were all stuffed but still got this anju platter that i wish i could have eaten cuz it was all good and piling on a pint of dank craft beer filled us up even more. On the 5 min walk from Insadong street to Ikseondong we passed the outskirts of this park where down and dirty Korean old men were playing changi chess

as we were going to meet Vander Kock and JP for dinner in Sinchon we saw where we should have gone, a long row of pojangmachas with stools. Medium deluxified street food carts with alchohol.
