Diamond Notch Falls

One last hiking and camping with Steven. last yr we did it with Dave, this year with Jonathan Bartlett

its like 7 or 8 miles front loaded on the hike, you camp, then 1 or 2 miles to loop back to the car, so by the time you make camp after 8 miles hiking you feel like you've earned it.

fire tower

this was august 26th and the water was FREEZING. So i guess it's always freezing.

steaks on a rock

in the morning, left over banock bread, sausages, eggs, coffee

morning dip will wake you up

a stop in town for provisions before night #2

as we were making our way back to camp we saw a ranger, a ranger who later came to camp and said we were illegally camping cuz you're not supposed to camp within 150 feet of water. Camping is prohibited within 150 feet of any road, trail, spring, stream, pond or other body of water except at areas designated by a "Camp Here" disk. Groups of 10 or more persons OR stays of more than three days in one place require a permit from the New York State Forest Ranger responsible for the area.

She said she had to ding us for something so gave us a ticket for destroying and defacing plants on state land. We had to pack up camp and go up the mountain to a legal camping spot

it was ok, we had heartfelt and emotional convos into the night.
