Kansai On Fleek 2023 - Osaka Friday Night

Kemuri yakitori in Doshomachi

we did have a good time, we just tired

tomatoes transformed into some other kind of food, amazing
some kinda corn and you eat the silk too

in Osaka people be smoking inside bars and restaurants and I guess steve is a smoking boy now
on to Wonderland, the tachinomi (standing bar) that steven works at. It's owned by Peter from Hong Kong and they serve HK foods and steven's been learning to cook all kinds of stuff. As we were walking about the neighborhoods steven would recognize people or they'd recognize him, a benefit of being a white guy in japan

now at Tachinomi Nagaoka with various bar owners steven knows and they all know each other

final stop of the night, Niwaka Bar. The bartender was a young french guy whom recognized us on the street another night and I can really see how in these several Osaka neighborhoods you could make friends and flourish. My theory is its because of the standing bars where you can talk to strangers and have chances for interactions where as historically it's been izakayas and places where everyone sits at their own table with their own party and there's no mingling like at western bars. When I lived in tokyo the standing bar thing was just starting so I didn't get this experience Steven is getting. Also osaka people are much friendlier than peeps in the capital city and all the famous comedians come from Osaka. I would have killed to have these neighborhoods with many standing bars

Eric died (he had a horrible horrible hangover the next day)
