Pre Spring

on the street

when Bartlett visited we shot his WWE toy packages

went with Dave to this org's headquarters out in Bellport finally after yrs of them asking us and we had no idea what we were in store for. We vaguely that they help out farm workers who are largely undocumented but we had no idea what would happen and boy was it a day. we caravan'd in a bunch of cars to several farms and did not know we were in a volunteering sitch and we were just throw into the mix talking to a bunch of farm workers. It was a FULL day of stuff and sitting around and waiting and it all seemed very inefficient and me and dave had so much unbridled laughter in the car on the way back to brooklyn.

so i will say that in Bellport and probably everywhere there's this world of farm workers that we never think about or even think about where they live let alone know they exist and they are paid very badly and live not great lives and its all in plain sight if you know where to look but we never look. Its not like I know anything about orgs like this or using resources efficiently but I'm going to focus what little efforts I have more hyper locally

after the society of illustrators editorial show

seed starting

bob's been looking for a varsity jacket and i told him about this Brooklyn Circus x Gap collab that just dropped and he snagged one and now i'm jelly

"Jenny"

Poster in illustration dept head's office which is no longer Ed Soyka who was there when i went to school and is now Dan Sheffelman

Crokinole, a game from possible from Canada they say and you flick disks around and try to score points. for 2 to 4 players and now they have 2 of these at Rullos next door.

was asked to judge the University of the Arts Philadelphia senior thesis show along with Christina Chung whom i'm already pals with and Anton Klusener who was at forbes magazine way back when i started out and I talked to him before but never worked with him. I went to Philly with dave who went to school there and we went around the city some, ate a Roast Pork in Reading Terminal Market at Tommy DiNic's which is like a philly cheese steak but with pork and i got it with broccoli rabe like they say but i was wishing i was eating a philly cheese steak which seems so much more satisfying. I never got a philly cheese steak that day because the schedule was packed after that.

after judging we went over to Dirty Frank's, dave's old college haunt and then had to high tail it back to the amtrak.

found one of Dave's Eastern Parkway painted paving stones

after a Society of Illustrator's board meeting on the roof checking out one of a slew of problems that occurs because it's an old building and they own it so the society has to have everything fixed
