Mom Raish's St John Retirement Week - Day 4

The Donkeys come every morning

never seen Black Label SPAM but its from america so i'm sure they have it somewhere. This is a good spam and held us down for our egg toast bfast needs most mornings.

parents had quite a nice bath and shower situation

slathering up for our kayak adventure. We have a pretty good safety record

we'd kayak past turner point, take a break at hurricane hole, then continue on to coral bay and have a victory drink at Lime Out, the floating boat bar

kinda scary rounding the corner from hurricane hole to coral bay the current was leading us out to like Anguilla. turning into the current made it possible to get into the bay but for a minute there i thought we were gonna get side swiped out to sea. we tried to stay well clear of the coast line too so we wouldnt get smashed on the rocks.

After an hr and a half of paddling we finally made it to Lime Out. Our sweet liquid reward would soon be ours. As we floated up to the bar the guy said hey guys sorry you can only come by charter or tour. Everyone at the floating bar was enjoying their cocktails staring at us 2 filthy kayak people being rejected by the floating bar because we got there by the strength of our paddles and not by the gasoline of some lame charter boat. idk if its some insurance purposes thing but its incredibly lame that Lime Out won't allow solo kayakers.

so we had to drag our kayaks up onto shore at some filthy smelly seaweed spot in the bay and go to the salty mongoose for drinks.

somehow for some reason we walked for a while down this road in the sun and found this stand where Karen Samuel was selling Caribbean food. I can't remember what we ate but i think this is a conch fritter which st johns is known for and we had some sorrel drink. Karen is an artist and painter and one of the only locals we got to talk to on the trip. She sells food either on coral bay road or east end road, i can't remember where somewhere along that stretch around coral bay, and i think its only the weekend. https://www.facebook.com/KaresoStudio/

6.7 miles paddling

The heroes returned home but no one cared they were all lounging and napping in hammocks in the cool shady breeze not knowing the harrowing journey that Steven and Jason had just been on that no one asked for.

what an adventure filled day
