Milan Part 4

crazy tile work at Casa di Riposo per Musicisti

we drove to Bergamo in North Eastern Italy.
Basilica di Santa Maria delle Grazie, Yoon's fav church in italy

next we went for a Franciacorta tour and tasting at Bellavista. Franciacorta is italian sparkling wine from the Lombardy region (which includes Lake Como, Bergamo, and Milan). It's expensive! I think it's like champagne but they can't call it that cuz it ain't from champagne and i could be stabbed for calling it champagne anyway.

of course its tasting time. An expensive tasting time. Franciacorta is expensive stuff

next onto more Northern Italian lake life at a smaller lake, Lago D'Iseo. We rented paddle boards and there were lots of young people doin' various lake stuff

Osteria Pane al Sale for lake front dinner

when the moon hits your eye.... your phone camera will splice in a crazy photo of the moon that's not real. Jen said this happened and i'd like a screenshot for proof.

ashtrys at the airport train. Ok so Milan is cool but it's another European city. It's great that I know illustrators to hang out with there but...Italian lake life, that's where it's at! I was surprised that this was what really tickled me. But cruising on a boat in the sunshine drinking prosecco or swimming in the warm late august water was amazing. The pace of life and the enjoyment for life in italy is always refreshing and melancholic. To be fair to Milan it was the off season and probably the second worst week to be there, the first being the next week when all of italy takes a month off for a national holiday. So the city was empty and many of the illustrators I knew were gone. But I still got Serena and Frederica and Francesca and met several others. Hopefully we'll be back next summer after Yoon's duties are done before he leaves Milan. Thank you yoon for handling so much travel and planning stuff.

Umbrian-Marche Apennines

yoon's mom stayed in Milan for a while and made a bunch of chuch friends, one of whom owns this korean photo booth room business in Milan.
Moana espresso back at home that Yoon got me. Delish. In Italy they can't call the Disney movie Moana that name because there's an italian pornstar called Moana. It's called Oceania in Italy

Milan Part 3

Yoon rented a boat on lake Como and we thought this is gonna be dumb, its just rich people ish, but there's a reason rich people love it, because cruising on an italian like is awesome. Lake Como is like a 15 min drive to Switzerland so i'd see meadows of grass up top and wonder if its like the sound of music up there.
pocket coffee is an amazing invention. at least the summer edition that is like this vicious espresso liquid you suck out with this tiny straw. The winter edition is like a chewable thing.

Ristorante Aurora Lezzeno along the way. I think we had to lie and say we have a reservation to the water taxi guy who brought us to shore. Yoon brought along his tennis pal who's Brazilian and manages a churrascaria in Milan.

lots of prosecco drunk, and we didn't even make the sweet mortadella sandwiches we were gonna make.

where padma and anikin get married in star wars a phantom menace.

august water was so warm. was sweet swimming in these lakes

wish we had time to jump off this bridge but we had to return the boat asap

dinner and after drinks with Illustrator Francesca Gastone

normal entrance closed cuz it was late so we had to jump this fence or walk around for like 15 min

Milan part 2

The Duomo

Frederica's parents used to be art collectors so she knows a lot about art and italian art. Museo del Novecento

another cotoletta at

Consorzio Stoppani

I went 4 days earlier and jen came later for a few days. We picked her up at the airport and stopped at this original Auto Grill that's really close to the airport (seen on Tucci in Italy food show) and Jen said this mortadella sandwich was the best thing she ate on the whole trip. The first of many coffees, welcome to Milan Jen.

The Last Supper

art enjoyer

bergamont spritz maybe?

delicious seafood pasta inside

jen pulled this cord with the red ball on it and it called the security people to come upstairs to see if everythign was alright

Osteria del Binari, what a cool place
