Japan 2025 - Kamakura Day 1

the day started with hangovers but not as bad as it would have been if we were home. You get a like -2 hangover damage vacation bonus i feel like.
Fukusaki is famous as the birthplace of writer Kunio Yanagita who wrote about yokai (monsters). The whole town has yokai all around including this Kappa at the train station.

2 yokai and a woman on a bike.

back in osaka before we all part ways. Chigusa had a line and tourists so we went to this place around the corner which had decades old looking teppan plates so we knew it was gonna be good and it wasssss. Matt went onward for a climbing adventure around japan, bob went to tokyo for his flight and me jen eric yumi went to Kamakura, Yumi's hometown by the ocean.

people in Kamakura seemed very friendly and we met people unlike tokyo. A lot of people are tokyo transplants because its only an hr away by train. I guess kinda like the hudson valley for nyc.

shirasu salad. Kamakura is famous for shirasu (tiny whitebait).

eric and yumi know a lot of places cuz they come to kamakura every year cuz yumi's mom lives nearby still and yumi grew up here. cocktail bar in an old bank.

san sho infused jin.

airbnb was literally a stones throw from the station so we had a lil cheeky mcdonalds snack. I shamefully had 3 teriyaki burgers over the course of the trip.
