Japan 2025 - Stevens Wedding Day

wedding day. We all had to be up at 6:30am to be dressed for the wedding, check out of the airbnb and catch a 7:30am bullettrain to Fukusaki, north of Himeji

some people thought ahead (not me) and bought 5ths of suntory conbini whiskey on the way which is not bad mixed with oolong tea. suit by Scott Fraser, Shoes Duke and Dexter, Sun glasses Blue Elephant (just got them in seoul), and I just scored this Husky sled dog tie at Kapital in Osaka.
Adia and Mason. Adia is a famous "Southern Gothic" singer and songwriter and is an NPR darling and has had a song on Obama's fav music of the year list twice. Husband Mason is also in the bad but also a structural engineer and super nice and everyone loved him

all of the "good" photos are by Dan Crouch, Agnes's husband and fun and cool guy.

crank that souljah boy

brought 2 godzilla posters for Dan and Agnes

Miki's grandfather got this suit when he was supposed to go to Iraq for work but then the US invaded so he didn't go but its amazing it still fits and he looks like someone who could get you touched.

congrats Steven and Miki

lunch at the Kominka, which was really nice, and all paid for by steven and miki which we said you really don't need to do that but it was all done and it included our night there too.
steven's mom gave a teary speech which then made Miki's mom's speech teary

they gave everyone ceramic cups and a lucky person got the golden cup and a huge bottle of sake and snacks and they said it was truly a coincidence that it was me. We drank it later at break time so i guess it went to the best person

I gave my speech in japanese and english but was very underprepared with writing it and memorizing difficult words and sentences. Also because it was supposed to be after dinner not after lunch so i thought i had 5 hrs to work on it. I even had to borrow bob's glasses cuz i had to read a lot of it off my phone. I hate doing speeches reading from something, i like it to look like its coming from the heart on the spot. Anyway they said it was good and was good that it was in japanese also. I spent 4 months doing LingoDeer japanese level 2 every day for like 45 min a day and as always there ain't nothing like being in the country and forced to use japanese that will get you to learn more in 4 days than in 4 months. App learning is also almost not effective for me at least.
