Pandemic Island - Part 5

The Kouli'ou'ou ridge hike might be the coolest hike i've been on (although Long Ji Dragon's backbone in Southern China btwn 2 towns might also be). You go through several climates on this hike and the vegetation changes and it reminds of me of the movie Hook where its a rainforest and then snow all really close to each other. This worn out brush thing is to wipe the seeds off your boots

this is a little disconcerting and also the dogs part. I've seen videos of bad looking dudes going on boar hunts on Oahu with dogs and I do not what to come across that

eventually you get to this elevation where there's this crazy super long needled coniferous trees who's dried needled make this crazy shag carpet that looks like its out of a Dr Seuss book

and then you get to this elevation suddenly and its somehow tropical again and theres crazy flowers and ferns and mongooses and geckos

view from the top, that's rabbit island again

nature's silicon circuit board

another day exploring the east side of the island. this is at Tropical Farms Macadamia nuts which has an enticing road entrance and so theres tons of tourists. It was cool for 2 people to pop in and out, see stuff like these Macadamia nuts and then Kukui nuts up in the trees and have some coffee and bounce out. If i had kids in tow i would not go in here it would be a tourist trap that would take a while to get out of.
Mokoli'i aka Chinaman's hat

Kualoa Ranch where they shot jurassic park

Jen says places like Shiro's and even these old school shopping centers are rare now.
Saimin is a Hawaii thing and jen wanted me to try a good one cuz i've had several not great ones. Its good but I don't know if id' still choose Saimin over ramen but i get it, and it is nice cuz its lighter than ramen broth, We also had it with one of their great little burgers like how Mark Noguchi likes to do it
what if everywhere could operate like we're on an island, and we are all on one blue marble island and running out of runway

The Nu'uanu Pali lookout. Super windy and thus cold. It's like playing 4x game like civilization VI up there, surveying the land at a 3/4ths isometric view

the view from somewhere on the Tantalus with its crazy winding roads

Eleanor actually secured tickets for Hanauma Bay snorkeling, the best on the island

the dragon's eye drink or something like that at Heiho house with 2 of Jen's college friends in Kaimuki which is a cool little neighborhood.

the back drop of this Burger King

went to the North shore to several beaches, was absolutely packed and the wind was really whippin' sand that day so we went back home

That's Pele's chair right there at Alan Davis beach and where you end up if you go down the mountain instead of up to the lighthouse

random spot, random dead crab that someone happened to draw a face on, and i live in a universe where i got to see it

after our wedding in Lanikai/Kailua Ai and James fell in love with it and now those bastards own this house in Kailua, would ya look at the view out the windows

can see the Moks, our wedding house is to the right down the road

drawin' with lil Isla

Q anon stickers and a Trump 2Q2Q sticker and who knows what else on there.

this might have been my only loco moco this time around at Nico's pier 38 before we left in Kalihi Palama. That's it for hawaii this time around. I got the non wedding no hype all the time experience. I wanted to see if I could see myself living there. The older i get the more appealing it gets.....
