The Pandemic Will Be Over By Xmas They Said

saw the same color as Dubu but Dubu is hotter
Sh!t is getting real now that several vaccines have been approved and are rolling out now. first it was available only to seniors then later on lower in age and so on. It was also available to the immuno compromised or even people with asthema and the death tolls was going up and up and it seemed like a race to get vaccinated before you got COVID. People where doing mental and moral gymnastics to justify getting vaccinated because the supply of vaccines was limited. It was incredibly stressful that when you tried to make an appointment there would be a timer counting down and you had to complete your appointment by then. On top of that appointments would dissapear by the time you finished or there'd be a website error and many other errors it was crazy and I was racing to find a way to get us vaccinated. 2 things led to me driving 4 times in 2 months to Corning near my parents house. Bob's car died while he was driving on the highway so we finally decided to buy a new car and my parents found a great deal by them, and there were a TON of appointments in Corning and none in NYC. Because of work for some reason Jen couldn't go when me bob and steven went which would have made it so I only had to go twice for the 2 vaccine shots but there were tons of appointment and I told jen you have to get vaccinated the next week (cuz putting it off for even one more week, that could be the week you get covid and die).

we did it, we all got appointments, the national guard ran the whole process at Corning Community College and it was very efficient and relieving. At this time you got however much immunity after shot #1 and then however much more after shot #2 and the news and everyghing you hear about was about efficacy and risk and how bad were the side effects. And stewing during all of this was insanity, vaccine deniers, vaccine hesitancy, and the politicization of vaccines and science itself. Now in 2022 it is clearly a thing and divides our country and infects many people's minds. Family members, friends, you name it. Everyone knows someone who, thanks to social media and the media believe one side or the other, believe in science or conspiracy theories. Its all been politicized and used to divide us. in March 2021 the world was hopeful, and they said the pandemic would be over by xmas. They didn't predict that the US and the world would never get to vaccination rate that would wipe the virus out. That Anti-vaxxer would become a thing and a way of life even and a political stance in america and other countries. Misinformation runs amok. Soon there will be protest and rallies and claims of liberties and freedoms being trampled on for having mask mandates and vaccine mandates and private companies or businesses requiring proof of vaccination. The short lived optimism we felt in our hearts would soon end. It's July 2022 and COVID will be with us forever now.
used 2018 Subaru Forester, with no extra features, but at a great price and less than 30,000 miles on it. Thanks to my parents for test driving it and picking it up for us. Oh and riding the train all the way to JFK to rent a car to get to Canisteo was stressful too cuz it's the height of the pandemic and you're in a metal box with people for an hour

Dad rented a cherry picker to put up screening to block out the birds from getting in the barn and poo'in on everything. Spoiler alert the find a way in still in 2022

found this in one of the fog light holes, i guess it randomly happened

dipped into our lockdown Juk rice poridge stash.

Guinea hen got on the roof and wouldn't shut up cuz it couldn't get down

Guinea hen egg in the middle has a sharper shape. The shells are super thick and hard to crack

example of how he likes to poop on elevated things

Hackey sacks still alive

When we got back bob was feeling bad and feverish. I felt a little and steven was fine
We saw something that looked like a huge white ferret across the field and someone said maybe it was a fisher cat which are huge but I dont' remember ever seeing anything like this growing up

The Lamest 40th Birthday Ever

Height of the pandemic so my 40th birthday party had to take an enormous downsizing. It was the lamest 40th birthday ever. It was Me, Bob, and Steven playing Civilization VI in my living room for 2 days straight. It's a long game of global domination and takes that long. We ate nuggets, we ate other favorite bad for you foods, we snacked, we drank a lot of booze and honestly it's exactly what I wanted and was awesome and a cherished time for me. I don't want a strip club birthday or a Vegas birthday, to me that's lame. Spending 2 days with my pals drinking and eatin' and strategizing was awesome. The pandemic forced us to do this, but in doing that it gave us true freedom, freedom in that we could sit on the couch and play video games unrepentantly with no FOMO or guilt because we couldn't go out. Special thanks to Jen for putting up with this and procuring nuggest and foods. I'm 40 yrs old now......

yes i dropped a nuke on amsterdam

yes i dropped a nuke on paris. I think I did win, not cuz it was my birthday but because i'd played the game more than them and the only thing i know how to do is win by military force

Lion's Mane box getting started

good for you buddy

Collective Arts the Canadian Brewery I did several cans for is opening a place down the block from us and the sign is up! (its 2022 July and I don't think its happening anymore, thanks pandemic)

getting asian groceries in the pandemic was a challenge and a treat when you could get it cuz in Park Slope there's nowhere to get them

i think i tried to make some kinda korean fish. We don't eat enough fish at all, like a few times a year seriously

gotta get those seeds started

I loved these pandemic times on the couch with these 2. For the same reasons as my 40th bday. I can enjoy this time without feeling like I should be doing something else or I have to go to some birthday party or do this or that obligation

gotta bake the soil to 180-200 f to sterilize the soil so it doesn't infect all the house plants. Gnats are a HUGE problem

trying to have a drink outdoors even in one of the many new huts on the side of the street in the harsh winter is not so fun

finally saw my MTA art in person on some train before it came down. I think it was up for half a year longer than normal but it doesn't really matter cuz the whole time it was up it was peak pandemic so not that many people saw it, so bummer for me

sold all but a few of both versions of my MTA long posters. So i sold like 180 of them wow

when 1 dremel isn't enough for Jenny. She was sanding pottery

private ambulance called Ambulnz, the state of healthcare in America 2021

my plans for a Dubu lanai in the windowsill so the boy can entertain himself

there goes jenny on her first day of pottery class. We are fortunate to have one of the few pottery studios in NYC down the street from us and Jen expressed interest in doing pottery again like she used to. For a year she was stuck in the house cuz of the pandemic and there was a big change when she had a creative outlet and physical change of location to go to every saturday and sunday and some weekdays after work. Fast forward to 2022 and she's taken maybe 6 semesters of classes now and this very hands on ancient art form keeps her going. Gasworks pottery studio might have saved our lives? I am SO happy that she found her thing.

you're not supposed to lay on your lanai right now kid

a boy and his toy. this time is taiko no tatsujin and the accompanying taiko drum that cost like 80 dollars

sauteeing the box grown mushrooms, dunno what these are, might be pink oyster?

he's using it!

The Gamestop sign got taken down cuz it closed. During the pandemic there was a period where peeps made meme stocks popular (stonks) like gamestop stock which was a failing company and people rallied around it for the lolz, sticking it to the rich investors, cuz they were bored, cuz they had stimulus check money, and other reasons. It worked and these stocks skyrocketed but in the end almost everyone lost a lot of money

birthday box from Yoon's mom. Why she gotta be so nice?

look what you did this time Dubu

some kinda Korean alcohol, i'm gonna guess it was sweet and gross
