Beginning Bits O 2019 - Part Five

after 3 total days of work mostly from Steven and I and some help from Jen and Kimie, Laputa II is finished. There were some finishing touches I had to add later on but it's done and seems to be pretty awesome.

old and new

Oden Japanese fishcakes time.

these first two photos are of hops that were inside the greenhouse and the last one was outside the greenhouse, so maybe it does make a difference

cutting additional supports. my old mentor John Nickle who lives down the street lent me some tools including this saw.

was featured in Society6's art quarterly

scored a MOMA artist's membership. We went to a member's after hours thing in the sculpture garden so far and need to go back and get more out of this membership.

this is psychotic behavior. Jen never touched her ketchup amongst all those fries.
We finally ate at Sidecar right next to our house and the burger was good actually.

Jen's boss's birthday party at whatever Happy Ending is now called. We used to throw parties here back in our FIT days.

we've had a drawer full of batteries, electronics, laptops, cables, gas canisters, etc for years and finally we went to SAFE disposal event that the city put on. This one was at Prospect park and was on our calendar for half a year. They said normal modern alkaline batteries can just be thrown away in the garbage but that feels bad. We both left this event in whatever the opposite of awe is at the sight of all of our collective electronics, chemicals, paints, batteries, etc dropped off by those who have the means to even entertain such a thing. There were minivans and cars with huge tv's tied to the top. There were palettes full of tower computers, monitors. There were people throwing ipads and laptops into bins. It's amazing and sad to see what a parasite humanity is. I hate waste and throwing stuff away and adding to the pile.

last hotpot of the year

this spring was very cold and crappy so hardening off the seedlings really sucked and some died and they especially hate the wind.

Beginning Bits O 2019 - Part Four

Day 2 back on the roof. We used chicken wire U shaped nails and they were super un-enjoyable to hammer in cuz they are so short we had to hold them with needle nose pliers and they don't go in nicely like a normal nail. After a day of that and getting very little wire installed I borrowed a stable gun from Kimie and it went 1000x faster.

finally ate a MRE given to us by Larry Lawrence (Meal Ready to Eat famously known as army food).

There's a ton of food in this thing

fruit punch, cranberries, energy bar

civilized things

supposed to be cornbread stuffing, was gross. Overall the MRE was fine and i'm sure in the field you'd be ultra happy to have it.

another day another quiche.

Our 3rd Anniversary night on the town. Started with cocktails at Mother of Pearl
then it was on to dinner at Noreetuh, fancy Hawaiian food. Here's some big eye tuna poke.
Kalua Pork Cavatelli

Mochiko fried chicken.

Then it was one to Angel's Share for a cocktail

Then on to Angel Share's sister speakeasy nextdoor at Sharaku.

Went to Jill and Derek's in Sharon CT to borrow some camping gear. There's this trail that goes from their house all the way to Millerton.

that car key that was lost for over a year turned out to be in the rubber gasket of their washing machine the whole time.

camping gear achieved.

we finally did what i've been wanting to do, charge directly up the hill across from their house.
Kent Falls Brewery on the way back.

BOB

Kent Falls using paper can holders instead of plastic. thumbs up.
directly after CT was Steven's 5th yr in America anniversary so we all dressed up as Steven and partied. Unfortunately we have no photos of all of us dressed as steven. This was the most fun packed weekend in a long time for Bob so he was very sick for weeks after this.
