Tucking In For A Long Pandemic

Hotpot? can't remember what this is if we had to make our own hotpot broth or it was store bought or what in the pandemic (which is still ongoing now January 16th 2022) you have to find joy in the smallest things. This might have been the best thing that happened this week.

many people started backing bread so bread flour was sold out. Yeast and other baking stuff in short supply. Lots of people started doing sourdough with starter from yeast out in the open air. Ever since Michael Pollan's book Cooked i wanted to make sourdough and the pandemic finally made me do it (twice).

Dubu forced me to go outside at least 4 times a day to walk him which is probably a pandemic lifesaver for me. Also look at him, how can you deny that face.

not very good job jason

if this bit floats in the morning then you're ready to bake bread that day. Its a lot of work keeping the sourdough starter going so after 2 times I lost it. I was fortunate enough to be a freelance illustrator working from home my entire career and so illustration is an industry that did well in the pandemic. I've been absolutely swamped with work the entire time. My theory is because my career finally took off the year before the pandemic more than the pandemic leading to illustrators getting more projects because things like in person photoshoots being unable to happen lead to more jobs for illustrators.

7pm in NYC and around the world for a while was people clapping, shouting, clanging pots and pans etc for "essential workers". Healthcare workers, restaurant workers, delivery people, etc... (the etc is crazy and would be politicized like everything, who is an essential worker even? a majority being minorities and immigrants, these people who were once the lowest in the caste system were suddenly essential and indispensable to the world. They died hugely unproportionately to the rest of the population and as predicted now in 2022 the world has forgotten).

socially distant hangout session. socially distant in 2020 meant 6ft of separation. It was learned that the disease is airborne and being outside and 6ft apart was sufficient for the virus particualte to fall to the ground instead of being inhaled where it would attack the respiratory system

whats the deal with this bed on the street? A sad story probably

covid walk exploration, somewhere towards sunset park, a chicken business of some sort.

love the south american and mexican enclaves south of park slope

2 paintings for a WowxWow show.

2 paintings for the Wow X Wow Microvisions3 show. If you’re an Asian kid growing up in an all white world in rural western New York State you have a number of physically and verbally aggressive encounters. You have a bowl cut, your face is different, you aren’t like the others. The gold lining of this ignorance and racism is that eventually when you pick up the pieces and are repaired, either by yourself or with the help of others, it makes you stronger. Korean celadon was celebrated as the finest in the world and had a characteristic greenish grey jade hue. Repairing ceramics with gold was an art mastered by the Japanese. Realizing that otherness is both bullshit and beautiful comes from you and hopefully with the help of others. more human suffering which has been happening forever. The killing of George Floyd sparked a worldwide social justice movement against the police

7pm on the roof blowing the horn for "essential workers" do they even care? does it even help them? is it insulting to them? is it just a thing people do to feel better about the inequalities of society showing through the pandemic

cant remember what this is but maybe a pork shoulder in some kind of taco verde sauce ready for slow cooking all day.

pests in the rooftop garden already

reyes is where ordered food from the most before the pandemic and during the pandemic

one of the most momentus events of the pandemic. I somehow was able to buy a much sold out and impossible to buy (well you could but at double the price because of demand) Nintendo Switch at normal price $300. After much deliberation I've finally joined the gaming world again after a 20 year haitus. I stopped playing video games when I went to college. Its been a nice way to unwide so far and while I do have an addictive personality I didn't get too far down the rabbit hole except with Civilization 6 and Fortnite.
outdoor socially distant hangouts would be the thing for months.
