Lockdown Begins

March 22nd 2020 NYC enters lockdown. Only allowed outside for exercise, grocery shopping. Bars and non essential businesses and schools closed. Restaurants can still do delivery and takeout. No one knows how long this will last or the pandemic.

restaurants run on razor thin margins in good times so a pandemic lead to many restaurants closing forever including the German Cafe Steinhof and Camperdown Elm. Many restaurants are trying to make it doing just delivery and they were allowed to stay open as per the lockdown rules. We tried to support the ones we like but like everyone were unsure what the pandemic would bring and what our financial situation would be or the world's.

by the BQE (which of course is where its cheap to live) it looks like a lot of the delivery people live

right next to where the delivery people work (presumably guys and presumably immigrants and perhaps undocumented) is some a$$hole flying a Trump flag

the poor supplychain got destroyed and with in person shopping not happening under lockdown everyone is ordering online. Here is a bag of cheetos that arrived from walmart in its own huge box. Also the corporations all got mega rich during the pandemic (amazon)

The amount of human suffering seems infinite. Many people lost their jobs, and or their industries crumbled. Broadway shows, night clubs, gyms, the wedding industy, the film industry, the list goes on. Kimie is out of work, Matt C is out of work. Universities go to online teaching overnight.

the covid long dog walks forced me to look at a lot of the architecture and wish there was an app that i could point my camera at buildings and it could tell me various architectural facts

attempts at Zoom hangouts. pretty sad and unsatisfying, these would end soon because most people just weren't feeling it. some well adjusted people in the world were able have a fun time with zoom parties.....
