Japan first day - Osaka

This is from my first day in japan in Osaka, a part called Suminoe. This is a double whammy because my old best buddy from when i went to school in SUNY Albany 9 years ago lives there! we were roomates 9 years ago and i havent seen him in 5 years at least. He is still a jerk. Me and John both used to be big a-holes and torture everyone. We've since calmed down and didn't do that much bad stuff. I wish we could have both been in Japan when were were 20. Then we probably would have ended up in jail a lot.

this is on the plane. I flew on China eastern. got the tickets for $200 dollars ($400 including taxes and fees). There was actually no little wet turban inside here. it was a wet napkin. i was looking forward to wraping a wet turban around my head because it was so mother loving hot !

i had a layover in Tsingtao. Here i am thinking cool i'm gonna get on that Japan airlines plane now. but nope! right back onto the same plane, same middle seat. I sat next to this chinese girl that didnt speak english and it was her first time flying on a plane at age 23. she was going to japan to work for a year doing some kind of hotel management thing. she had a multilingual electronic dictionary to help with words like hotel management.

for some reason they gave us these itty bitty water packages

had to fill out immigration and customs forms

the bus to jonnys house

jonny. we used to practice in the art of being obnoxious. we used to be so good.

me in the weird little seat up by the busdriver. who said all the stops in this deep sexy voice, almost a whisper

i tried to talk to these kids, i can't speak japanese, they didnt want to talk to me

small elevator

they have cigarette vending machines and drink vending machines everywhere. there are also a lot of beer vending machines

rotating sushi bar. it ended up costing $80 but it was sups good.

i dont know why these dont use these in china. they are little ring locks that go on the back of your bike. genius!

liquor costs about the same as it does in china which is super cheap, about 10$ a bottle

an attractive young lady on the subway. heels and short shorts are even more in fashion here than china which i am thoroughly enjoying.

1 out of every 5 buildings i pointed at john said were pachinko places. it is a big problem i guess. he fiance was telling me that lots of people leave their families, their jobs, to play pachinko. they even have a poster campaign now that says do not leave your baby in the car when you play because i guess some babies died in the summer sun.

we went to this bar where all the bar tenders are women and you basically sit and drink with them and they serve drinks that are like half the size they should be. it was sad. i dont know why these guys dont go to a place to meet real girls.

they have these auto open buttons on a lot of doors.

Were those photos really taken all in one day? That's like everything cool about Japan in a nutshell in one post. Awesome trip report!
